Kirk
Share ThisThis is my Australian Shepherd Kirk. He was identified by this site as a Harrier--should look like a tall beagle. What's wrong?
Kirk's ancestry contains an intermediate amount of Harrier and also includes a minor amount of Golden Retriever

Beautiful Kirk -
I suspect the long hair gene from the Golden Retriever and part of the color pattern from the Harrier, especially the white color pattern, plus other mix breeds so faint the test is not able to identify them.
Percentage of breed present is a factor in identifying what breeds make up a dog. Dr. Hughes explains that, in the Wisdom Panel MX, at least 12.5% of a breed must be present to be identifiable. There may be faint signals from other breeds which are not always strong enough to identify. Dog DNA testing is constantly evolving and improving. All of us who are testing out dogs through Wisdom Panel have used the best company. I have no connection to the company. I had my dog tested with Wisdom Panel and was very pleased.

That dog is FOR SURE a HUGE percentage Aussie (without the cropped tail); the longer ears & curly tail make me curious, but no doubt that's an Australian Shepherd more than anything else...
