Facilities

Under the direction of the world's leading pet genetics experts, Mars Veterinary is developing innovative technologies and solutions to help strengthen the bond between people and their companion pets.

Building on a strong research foundation in animal nutrition and behaviour needs, Mars Veterinary's research program roots lie in the renowned Waltham® Centre for Pet Nutrition in Leicestershire, England. Today, Mars Veterinary manages its own cutting edge facility in the United Kingdom and also does genetic testing conducted at laboratories in the US.

Genomics research is led by Research and Development Director Dr. Peter Markwell, with support from a distinguished team of geneticists, nutritional biochemists and laboratory technicians. Mars Veterinary experts have created the world's first canine breed identification test, the Wisdom Panel™ MX Mixed Breed Analysis test, for mixed breed dogs and continue to develop tools that provide pet owners greater insight into their dog's genetic history and predisposition to major complex health issues, such as periodontitis.

The Waltham® team has pioneered some of the most important breakthroughs in pet nutrition.
